Fictitious Simulated Threat Aug 9 2023
On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from approximately 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Parkland School District will partner with South Whitehall Township to conduct an Active Shooter Full-Scale Exercise (FSE) designed to establish a learning environment for Lehigh County responders and Parkland School District Staff to exercise emergency response plans, policies, and procedures as they pertain to an active shooter event at one of our schools. There may be loud noises, many emergency vehicles on site, and many emergency responders on site during the event. Therefore, the public should not be alarmed during the exercise. The entire scenario is fictitious and is not based upon any specific threat. The exercise is sponsored by South Whitehall Township and is paid for using Commonwealth grant funds. A6A Associates, a Pennsylvania company, is coordinating and controlling the event.
Many emergency services are participating including South Whitehall Township Police and other local, state and federal Law Enforcement, Lehigh County Dispatch/911, Emergency Medical Services (led by Cetronia Ambulance), Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest, Lehigh County Rescue Task Force, Sacred Heart Allentown, St. Luke’s Bethlehem, and more. This page will serve to record School to Public Communication during the exercise.
