Volunteer Clearance Information and Application Procedures
Thank you for choosing to volunteer with the Parkland School District! Your involvement strengthens our schools and supports meaningful experiences for our students, staff, and families.
Important Clearance Information
If you are a new or renewing volunteer, your background clearances must be dated within the past twelve months. Once you are approved and added to our volunteer list, your clearances will remain valid for 60 months from their issue date.
Please remember to submit your clearances at least two weeks prior to any event or field trip you plan to support.

Please read before continuing to Step 5
If you are Volunteering in Athletics as a Coach please complete Steps 5-7 for Parkland Volunteer-Athletic Coach Clearances for Purpose of EMPLOYMENT (Act 114 is REQUIRED, the Volunteer Affidavit will not be accepted). Volunteers in other areas may complete clearances using Parkland Volunteer Clearances.
5. Copy of Act 34 - Criminal History Check (see below for Parkland Volunteer Clearances OR Parkland Volunteer-Athletic Coach Clearance)
6. Copy of Act 151 -PA Child Abuse History Clearance (see below for Parkland Volunteer Clearances OR Parkland Volunteer-Athletic Coach Clearance)
7. Copy of your Act 114 FBI BACKGROUND CHECK (REQUIRED if you've lived in PA for less than 10 years OR as a Parkland Volunteer-Athletic Coach) OR
8. Volunteer Affidavit (if you have lived in PA for more than 10 years - Does not apply to Parkland Volunteer-Athletic Coach)

Volunteer: An individual who provides services to the school or school district without compensation, assisting in educational, extracurricular, or school-related activities under the supervision of school staff.
Parkland Volunteer Clearances
Volunteer Coach: A volunteer who participates in athletic programs and has the potential for direct, unsupervised contact with students. Due to the responsibility for student safety and supervision, these volunteers are required to undergo state-mandated employment and background clearances prior to participation.
