NO SCHOOL MONDAY/EARLY DISMISSAL ON FRIDAY - Next week, we have no school on Monday as it will be a Professional Development Day for staff. On Friday, OMS, SMS and PHS will dismiss at 11 AM and Elementary Schools will dismiss at 11:45 AM.
BROWN BAG LUNCHES OFFERED ON EARLY DISMISSAL DAY - January 24th is an early dismissal day. Parents/students may order a bagged lunch that day. Bagged lunches will consist of turkey and cheese sandwiches, fruit, vegetable, and beverage and will be charged at their normal rate to students' cafeteria accounts. On the early dismissal day, your child's bagged lunch will be picked up by your child at the cafeteria near dismissal time. Order forms must be filled out online and are due by noon on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. You only need to complete a form if you are requesting a lunch. Questions can be directed to Food Services office at 610-351-5670.
COFFEE WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT - Meet Dr. Madson, Superintendent, over a cup of coffee at the Truffle Bar, 5831 Tilghman St, Allentown, PA 18104, on Wednesday, January 29, from 9-10 AM. Feel free to stop by to say hello, ask a question, or get to know the school district leader. Please let us know if you plan to attend by filling out this brief form so that we can plan the logistics for the event.
FREE FRENCH ACTIVITY FAIR for 4th and 5th graders is at PHS on Saturday, January 25 when French Honor Society students will host fun activities related to French culture in the Parkland High School Cafeteria from 10 AM - 12 Noon. Sign up here by Friday, January 17th.
LAST DAY TO ORDER CAP AND GOWN AT THIS PRICE is tomorrow! Seniors need a cap and gown to march in the Commencement Ceremony on June 4th at PPL Center. Order your cap and gown here. The current total price of the cap, gown, tassel unit is $37.96 until January 17, 2025. There will be a price increase of $10 after that date.

ROMEO and JULIET - Tickets for the PHS Fall play that will take the stage Oct 10-13, 2024, will go on sale this Monday, September 9th at noon here. Admission prices are $10 for students and seniors (65+); $12 for adults. For more information about our fall shows, click here.
ARTWORKS – This fall, Parkland Art Teachers will be holding adult art classes for community members. No previous experience needed to participate in these fun and exciting classes. NEW YEAR, NEW MENU - Cafeteria menus now include Chicken Cheesesteak, Hummus & Veggies, General Tso's, Teriyaki Chicken, Cheese Ravioli, and Meatball Subs. ELEMENTARY WORLD LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE - Tomorrow is the last day to register for the Grade 2 or Grades 3-5 Elementary World Language after school programs. ALUMNI HOMECOMING FLOAT PARADE/ANDRE WILLIAMS BOOK SIGNING A THE FOOTBALL GAME - Parkland High School's Homecoming will feature a football game against Dieruff HS, a book signing with former NFL running back and Parkland graduate Andre Williams during the game (near the concessions stand), a halftime float parade involving alumni and student-built floats, and a celebration of the District's 75th Anniversary honoring former Homecoming Kings and Queens. SAFE2SAY SOMETHING TRAINING - Parkland School District will conduct the annual Safe2Say Something training for middle and high schoolers in October. Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program that teaches how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. HOMECOMING WEEKEND - Friday is School Spirit/PHS Swag Day. The football game kicks off at 7 PM vs. Dieruff and will include a halftime performance by the PHS Marching Band as well as the annual Homecoming student-built float parade! To help us celebrate the District's 75th Anniversary, we will be honoring former Homecoming Kings and Queens during the parade. Parkland graduate/former NFL Running Back Andre Williams will be on site signing his newly released book, "After the Last Snap: When the Game Ends, Life Begins."

PHS UNHAUNTED HOUSE - Parkland High School National Honor Society students are hosting the annual Unhaunted House on October 24th from 6 - 7:30 PM in the PHS Library. This is a fun event offered to Parkland Kindergarten - 3rd grade students. There will be pumpkin decorating, crafts, temporary tattoos, snacks, candy, and games. The entry fee is $5 and no pre-registration is required. Simply come to the front entrance of Parkland High School to attend.
CLASS OF 2025 UPDATE - The Parkland High School Counseling Office invites PHS families to attend “An Introduction to Financial Aid, Understanding the Basics,” to be held virtually on Tuesday, October 22nd, at 7 PM. Greg Mitton, the Director of Financial Aid and Associate Dean of Admission at Muhlenberg College, will be breaking down the entire Financial Aid process. There is evidence that Prom Night safety issues (drunk driving incidents, drug use, etc.) are dramatically reduced in communities that sponsor AFTER PROM programs. CHANGE FOR HURRICANE RELIEF - Parkland School District is collecting change for students in Asheville, NC, who are returning to school this week after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on their community a few weeks ago. Look for water jugs marked "Parkland Change for Hurricane Relief" at ticket booth entrances at this Friday night’s football District playoff game at home vs. Liberty. Collection efforts will continue in all Parkland school buildings next week. Thank you for your generosity!
GIRLS BASKETBALL CLINIC THIS SUNDAY - The PHS Girls’ Basketball Team and coaches will be holding a basketball clinic for girls in grades 2-9 this Sunday at 1 PM at Parkland High School. No registration required, $15 cash at the door.
LET READING LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE! The Laser Reader School Assembly Program will be held on Monday, November 11, from 6-7 PM at Orefield Middle School, with entry through the side entrance. The interactive program engages students in grades K-5 with activities designed to enhance reading focus and accommodate all reading levels. 2. ADVANCED MANUFACTURING APPRENTICE FIELD TRIP - 11th and 12th grade students with an interest in hands-on electronics work or post-high school full-time employment are invited to a VIP tour of B. Braun. The tour will include lunch and insights from an apprentice. Apprenticeship programs offer financial support for training and college education in a growing field in the Lehigh Valley. CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES - LET'S GO TROJANS! Parkland Boys Soccer will play in the State Championship this Saturday when they take on Cumberland Valley at Eagle View Middle School in Mechanicsburg. A student fan bus will be offered and depart from PHS at 7:30 AM and return after the game. A pep rally at PHS will be held on Friday at 2 PM to hype up our Trojan Soccer Team for a victory! Later Friday night, the Football Team will head into the District Championship vs. Emmaus at Whitehall High School at 7 PM. Purchase tickets online here.
STUDENT vs. FACULTY BASKETBALL GAME - Parkland Staff will compete against senior students during the annual PHS Students vs. Faculty Basketball Game! The game will take place in the main gym at 7 PM tonight, November 14th! The Key Club is hosting this event to raise money to help the fight against pediatric cancer through Four Diamonds. Tickets are being sold at lunches for $5 each and will be sold at the door for $8 each.

LAST CHANCE SENIOR PHOTOS FOR YEARBOOK - Digital Photographic Imaging will hold in-school senior portrait sessions at PHS on 11/25, 26, and 27th from 9-11 AM for any seniors who have not yet had their free picture taken for the PHS Yearbook by Frank Mitman. There is no appointment required. Students can simply stop down in the auditorium lobby to have their picture taken.

The Marching Band has been invited to participate in the Philadelphia 6ABC Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade. The parade is scheduled to run 9 AM-Noon and the Trojans are the last band in the parade, just before Santa's entrance.

OUR COLLECTIVE EFFORTS HELPED ASHEVILLE CITY SCHOOLS - Thank you to all of our students and staff and Parkland community members who generously donated to our change collection that will directly benefit Asheville City Schools and their ongoing hurricane relief efforts! Our grand total that was collected in one week was $2,539.70!

Coolest Moves on the Court - The Parkland Dance Team is hosting its Coolest Moves on the Court Clinic on Monday, January 20th from 8 AM - 12 PM. Young aspiring dancers in Kindergarten - 5th grade will learn a routine that they'll have the opportunity to perform on the court during the PHS Varsity Basketball game on Tuesday, January 21st at 7 PM. $35 per participant includes a snack and a t-shirt. Girls and Boys Basketball Youth Night - Get ready for the biggest double header of the winter season when the Girls and Boys take on Allentown Central Catholic on Friday, December 20th. Varsity Girls play at 5:30 PM and Varsity Boys play at 7 PM in the PHS Main Gym. Free Admission to all youth players wearing their youth team shirt/jersey. Free 8x10 pictures will be given out and varsity teams will autograph photos immediately after their games.

CAC - The Parkland Community Advisory Council invites Parkland community members to their December meeting when they will be discussing Mental Health with Dr. Matthew Carlson, Director of Student Services. You will also get to know Mrs. Jaleen Mendez, the District's new school social worker. CAC will meet on Thursday, December 19th at 6:00 PM at the Parkland High School Library. All are welcome.

CHEERLEADING CLINIC - The Parkland Cheer team is hosting a youth cheer clinic on Sunday, January 12th from 9 AM - 12 noon at the Parkland High School Auxiliary Gym. More details and information is at this link. Registration is due January 3rd. Participants will have the opportunity to cheer at the Parkland Boys' Basketball game on Monday, January 13th at 7 PM.
ADULT ART CLASSES ARE OPEN FOR ENROLLMENT - Our art teaching staff is offering three new art classes for adults this winter that will start in February. Check them out at this link and be sure to register by the January 24th deadline if you are interested.
TRANSITIONS - The New Year will bring about transition information from the middle and high schools. Your child will begin to be able to select their own courses starting in 7th Grade. There will be a VIRTUAL REFRESHER PARENT MEETING for current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students about the course selection process on Monday, Jan. 13th at 7 PM. Parents of 8th graders should plan to attend IN PERSON on January 14th for the Class of 2029 Parent Meeting to be held in the PHS Auditorium at 7 PM to learn about the course selection process for high school. We will also begin registering incoming kindergartners in the New Year! If you know someone turning 5 prior to September 1, please tell them to call their neighborhood elementary school in January to begin the registration process.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE FAIR INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE - Parkland's 3rd Annual Community Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 9 AM to 12 PM, in Parkland High School's cafeteria. This free event brings together local social service agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to help families connect with valuable resources. Nonprofits are invited to reserve a free table today by filling out the short form linked here no later than February 14, 2025 (or until we reach full capacity).
YOUTH BASKETBALL NIGHT - Come cheer on the Parkland Girls Basketball teams as they take on Pleasant Valley!

Free admission for all youth players (ages 12 and under) wearing their youth team shirt/jersey. Parkland students are always free to regular season games with their student ID. Free 8x10 photos of the varsity team will be given out, and varsity players will autograph photos immediately after the game.
Parkland Swimming is hosting a "Future Trojan Night" during the Parkland vs. Nazareth home swimming and diving meet on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Parkland High School Natatorium. All Parkland 7th and 8th graders interested in joining the team when they enter high school are invited to watch the meet and experience the excitement of being on the Parkland High School team. They'll also be treated to complimentary pizza with the seniors, and get to hear from them about their experience on the team.
GIANT FEEDING KIDS - When you shop your local GIANT Grocery store between January 1 - March 31, you can round up your toal to the nearest dollar at the register to support Parkland's efforts to eliminate student hunger. The funds raised will go directly to Parkland REACH to feed students and their families.
