Parkland social media pages are where we share the stories and celebrate the accomplishments of our students and staff. We welcome the opportunity for our parents and stakeholders to engage with us on our pages; however, we expect civility and common sense in all comments.
The administrators of any and all Parkland School District accounts reserve the right to hide or remove comments, replies, or other content and interactions that they deem to be in violation of the District’s Social Media Community Standards or in violation of the social media platform’s standards. (Facebook Community Standards; Instagram Policies; Twitter Rules/Policies; YouTube Community Guidelines)
The administrators may also take action to report users from any and all social media platforms for repeated violations of these standards.
Individuals who comment on Parkland School District’s social media platforms- or any platforms owned or managed by schools within the Parkland School District- are expected to abide by the following Community Guidelines:
We will promptly remove comments that are deemed to be:

False, defamatory, or personal attacks or accusations

Misrepresentation of the poster’s identity

Political campaigning, commercial solicitations, or promotions of products or services of any third party, unless approved in advance by district administrators

Hate speech or speech that is obscene, harassing, baiting, intimidating, threatening or inciting violence

An attempt to incite action in violation of any federal or state laws or in violation of any Parkland School Board Policy

Identifying or targeting staff and/or students in a negative or abusive way

In violation of copyright and fair use laws

Profane, sexually explicit or suggestive

Harassment on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or age

Violating others’ privacy rights or confidentiality

Unrelated to the topic or to the Parkland community

Repetitive or spam
The Parkland School District does not endorse, support, sanction, encourage, verify, or agree with comments, opinions, or statements posted by individuals not authorized to speak on behalf of the district. Any information or material placed online, including advice and opinions, are the views and responsibility of those making the comments and do not represent the views or philosophies of the Parkland School District.
Social Media should not be used to make a formal complaint against the district, its employees, or its students. All comments related to district business are considered public records subject to disclosure upon request. Our social media accounts are not monitored 24/7; We update and monitor these intermittently throughout the day on weekdays. If you are a student in crisis or have an emergency, please call 911 or the Pa Safe2Say tipline.

Parkland School District Social Media Commenting Guidelines
All of the District's social media pages focus on celebrating and supporting our schools, students and teachers, as well as sharing important news and communicating event information. We encourage you to share your support, connect with other supporters, and visit frequently for news and updates. While everyone is welcome and encouraged to comment, our first priority is to protect students, staff and community members. Comments and/or posts that do not follow this Comment Policy may be removed.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for cyberbullying and/or posts or comments that are political, racist, sexist, abusive, profane, violent, obscene, spam, contain falsehoods or are wildly off-topic, or that libel, incite, threaten or make ad hominem attacks on students, employees, guests or other individuals.
We also do not permit followers to post messages that sell products or promote commercial or other ventures.
You participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided. We reserve the right to delete comments or topics report users, if needed. Please be aware that all content and posts are bound by a social media platform's Terms of Use. Parkland School District encourages user interaction on its social pages, but is not responsible for comments or wall postings made by visitors to the page. Additionally, the appearance of external links, as posted by fans of our pages or other users, does not constitute endorsement on behalf of Parkland School District. In most, if not all cases, external links posted by fans will be removed. You should not provide private or personal information (phone, email, addresses etc.) regarding yourself or others on this page.
