Learning to Throw on the Potter’s Wheel!
Course Description:
This beginners course is designed to introduce students to the discipline of wheel throwing in ceramics. Students will focus on the potter’s wheel as a tool that can be used to approach a wide variety of forms. Basic glazing and clay stages will also be covered. All tools and materials will be provided for you. No experience required, simply show up ready to try something new!

Registration Fee: $150
Materials/Lab Fee: $25 (This is a separate fee paid to the instructor in order to reimburse the cost of clay and materials purchased for each student. The $25 materials fee should be paid by cash or check to Alyssa Tauber on the FIRST night of class. Note: The first bag of clay is included in the materials fee; more can be purchased at the studio as needed.)

Introduction to Oil Painting
Course Description:
This course is designed to introduce students to the basics of oil painting and for those somewhat familiar with the medium. The students will learn the foundations of oil painting, such as effective and visible brushstrokes, composition, observing color relationships, mixing color, and proper paint application and techniques.
All tools and materials will be provided for you. No experience required, simply show up ready to try something new or re-familiarize yourself with oil painting! There will be group and one-on-one instruction in a relaxed and nurturing environment.
*NOTE: This class uses paint solvents/thinners. Alternatives available: Gamsol Oil or Safflower Oil. There is a great ventilation system in place in the studio. Gloves are not supplied/required, but are welcomed if you choose to bring your own!

Explorations in a New Ceramic Medium: Porcelain Paper clay!
Course Description: *For those with Ceramic clay handbuilding /sculpting experience.
This is an exciting ceramic medium with which sculptors in Australia, and Europe have been using and now it has come to the U.S.! In this intermediate-level handbuilding course, the class will explore the capabilities and characteristics of sculpting and handbuilding with a ceramic porcelain clay body which has been mixed with paper fiber.
