Vision 2030 Update - July 2024

Dear Parkland Staff and Families,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well and enjoying a restful and fun-filled summer break. As we all take this time to recharge I wanted to share some important information.

As many of you are aware, we have embarked on plans to address increasing enrollment and the need for more space at the secondary level across the District.  The project that is focusing on this and other District needs is called Vision 2030 and is a result of a feasibility study that we conducted over a year ago.  The study looked at classroom space in all buildings, building utilization, where residential development is happening or projected to occur, and pressure points across the District.  As a result of all of our research and planning, adding on to Parkland High School will be the first phase of our Vision 2030 expansion project. We’ve been sharing information about our Vision 2030 Plan at school board meetings, in the Parkland Newsletter and at various community meetings.

In case you are someone who enjoys listening more than reading, I wanted to share the link to my latest #ParklandPride podcast episode which focuses on Vision 2030.  I sat down with Parkland High School Principal Nathan Davidson and the architect heading our Parkland High School expansion, Randy Galioto from Alloy5. This episode provides valuable insights into our district's future developments. You can find the episode here.

Additionally, we've updated our Vision 2030 webpage with the latest presentation given during the May School Board meeting. To view this information, please visit www.parklandsd.org/vision2030.

We encourage you to explore these resources to learn more about our plans for Parkland's future and stay informed about the exciting changes coming to our school community. Your engagement and support are crucial as we work together to shape the best possible educational environment for our students.

Thank you,

Dr. Mark J. Madson
Superintendent of Schools
