On Tuesday, June 23, 2015, the Parkland Board of School Directors appointed Elizabeth “Lizzy” Millen as the new varsity girls field hockey coach.
Elizabeth Millen was a standout goaltender for Whitehall High School and more recently for Temple University where she earned a full college scholarship. While at Temple University, Lizzy earned accolades as a member of the President’s Honor Roll and National Field Hockey Coaches Association All Region Team. In 2014, she amassed the highest save percentage of any goalie in the Big East conference. During her other years of participation at Temple, Ms. Millen was a member of the Atlantic-10 Conference (A-10) All-Rookie Team, the A-10 Championship MVP and Temple Defensive Player of the Year. In combining athletics and academics, Lizzy garnered a nomination for Big East 2014 Scholar Athlete of the Year. With Ms. Millen in the net, Temple was a constant Top-20 Division-One field hockey program.
Lizzy coached at Temple, the University of Pennsylvania, Lafayette College and Whitehall High School. She also led the Athletes Intervarsity Christian Fellowship Program at Temple, while acting as a representative to Temple’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Lizzy is currently working with the USA Field Hockey Futures program; selecting and developing players who have potential to play on our National Teams.
Jeffrey Geisel, Athletic Director at Parkland School District, stated, “We welcome Ms. Millen and look forward to the instruction and leadership she will provide to the Parkland field hockey program.”
