Grading is based on observation of student work habits, ability to follow directions, and teacher evaluation of student activities and class assignments.
Info Tech grades are determined by evaluating product (project) and process. The product includes: format, mechanics/conventions, and clear vision of the final product/demonstrating knowledge. The process includes managing time wisely, organization and structure (acquired knowledge base, communicates effort to teacher).
Grades are given at the end of the third and sixth six-week marking periods. Grading follows the Parkland School District standards.
Home Access Center
Information Technology grades will be updated regularly and can be accessed through Parkland’s Home Access Center. See Parkland’s homepage for instructions. The HAC web address is http://pldhomeaccess.spihost.com. Students are responsible for checking accuracy of grades. If any discrepancies occur, students should notify their classroom teacher immediately. HAC provides an up-to-date record of Information Technology grades; therefore, no one should be surprised when report cards are distributed. If Internet access is not available at home, grade sheets may be printed in school. Info Tech teachers will distribute usernames and passwords to all grade 6 students and all new students in grades 7 and 8. All students will be given a reminder of their account information.
