Attention Parents of current Juniors. Is your child unsure about a career choice? Did you know that on average graduating HS students are expected to change careers 7 times during their lifetime? Did you know that students who are undecided or change majors incur added costs and increased college debt? From June 22-26, 2015, Parkland High School will be hosting a FREE CareerLinking Academy. The purpose of the weeklong program is to prepare students to make meaningful career choices and to give them the skills they need to obtain a career. We will encourage a partnership between the students, their parents, Parkland High School, PA CareerLink Lehigh Valley, and their liaisons within the community. The students will get first hand knowledge from leaders in business and industry from around the Lehigh Valley. This program has been run for over 7 years with more then 400 students participating.
Here are some of the benefits of attending the Academy: Resume Writing and Job Applications, On-Line & Mock Interviews, Career Cruising, ASVAB, College visitation to a local college and a Job Shadow experience based on Career Interest and Aptitude Testing. Careers and education in the military will also be discussed. The program will have daily speakers talking about their careers and the paths they took to get there as well as the job outlook for the Lehigh Valley.
Students will utilize the computers to research careers, create a portfolio and access on-line interviews. This weeklong program will also meet the requirements for the graduation project. The program is open to the entire current junior class, whether you are an LCTI student, college or career bound. For more information, please watch the youtube video at
