Presenting Rembrandt, “Remmy” the Barred Owl at Wildlands
Hello! My name is Laura Bauer and I am an art teacher at Orefield Middle School. This will be my sixth year teaching art in the district. I have had the opportunity to teach in many of Parkland’s Elementary Schools including Parkway Manor, Schnecksville, Fogelsville and Jaindl Elementary. I am excited to be starting my third year at Orefield and look forward to seeing students from past years and meeting new students as well!
I graduated from Moravian College in 2008 and was fortunate to be hired as a part time art teacher by Parkland the same year. For the past year and a half I have been taking graduate level courses at Kutztown University to work towards earning my Master’s Degree in Art Education. I am learning so many new things and it feels good to be a student once again! In addition to teaching, I enjoy working as a naturalist at Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus. I began volunteering when I was 10 and working when I was 14 years old. It was there, at Wildlands’ summer camps, that I discovered my passion for working with children .
In my spare time, I enjoy caring for and working with the many on site animals at Wildlands, spending time with my family and friends, reading, cooking, baking, hiking, taking photographs and of course finding time to make art!
