Welcome to my website! I teach the following courses at Parkland High School: Photography 1, Photography 2, Photography 3, Digital/Pinhole Photography, Computer Art 1, and Graphics/Animation.
The quote listed below offers a brief insight as to what is covered in each one of my courses.
“Designing is not a profession but an attitude. Design has many connotations. It is the organization of materials and processes in the most productive way, in a harmonious balance of all elements necessary for a certain function. It is the integration of technological, social, and economical requirements, biological necessities, and the psychological effects of materials, shape, color, volume and space. Thinking in relationships.”
In each class, concepts surrounding design and technology are explored while forming parallels between historical and contemporary artists. Design is implemented into visual culture strategically and with purpose. The classes listed above offer students an opportunity to explore media such as photography and design programs, while becoming aware of their own creativity. A foundation toward interpreting art and design in everyday culture will be established through the exploration of materials and specific art projects.
