In light of the recent reports of lead being discovered in the drinking water in schools, the Parkland School District has hired an independent environmental firm who is testing the drinking water in all school and office buildings this week.
Of the 13 schools and office buildings operated by the Parkland School District, only two (2) buildings have water supplied by an on-site well that requires regular testing. The buildings are both in compliance with all DEP and EPA water regulations.
The other 11 schools and buildings in the District have the domestic water supplied by the local municipalities that are required to test the water being supplied to schools, businesses and residences. It is our understanding that all of the municipal water suppliers are in compliance with DEP and EPA water standards. However, as an extra precaution, water testing is being performed this week in the 11 buildings whose water is supplied by local municipalities.
