Closing or Delaying School for Inclement Weather (pdf)

The following policy has been established to assure your child's safety when weather conditions warrant:

School Closings and Late Starts:

Notices for early dismissals and delayed starts due to weather conditions will be posted on the main page of the Parkland School District Web site as soon as information is available.

The following local radio stations and TV channels will broadcast any school closings or late starts:

Bus transportation will be canceled or delayed depending upon weather conditions. Students using Parkland transportation and attending a non-public school shall:

Follow the instructions for Parkland School District as broadcast.

If your school is open and Parkland is closed, NO TRANSPORTATION!

If Parkland is on a delay, all nonpublic bus transportation will also be delayed.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL OR TRANSPORTATION OFFICE!
(phone lines must remain open to be able to contact the schools and drivers.)

Listen to local radio or TV stations. The buses will start picking up students for transport home as soon as possible.

Parents should arrange to have someone at the bus stop to meet their child or children (especially Kindergarten students)

Expect delays! Driving conditions may be less than ideal.

PARKLAND 2 HOUR DELAY

AM Session:

begins @ 11:00 AM
dismisses @ 12:45 PM

PM Session:

begins @ 1:45 PM
dismisses @ 3:30 PM

Early Closing Information

On days when Parkland Schools have a scheduled Early Closing, schools will be dismissed as follows:

Parkland Secondary Schools: Orefield Middle School,
Springhouse Middle School,
Parkland High School:12:45 PM
Parkland Elementary Schools: 1:45 PM
Kindergarten:Please note the following Early Dismissal schedule for Kindergarten:AM Kindergarten will be in session from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AMPM Kindergarten will be in session from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 PM and will dismiss with the Elementary Schools

Make-up days due to inclement weather for 2008-09 school year:

The first two (2) instructional days lost will be made up as
teacher professional development days.

Any lost days beyond two (2) will be made up in the following order:
Friday, February 13, 2009 - 3rd lost day
Thursday, April 9, 2009 - 4th lost day
Monday, June 15, 2009 - 5th lost day
Additional days made-up beginning June 16, 2009
