On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, the Parkland Board of School Directors approved the appointment of Dr. Rodney R. Troutman as Assistant Superintendent to be effective July 1, 2011. Dr. Troutman will replace Mr. Richard Sniscak who will become Parkland’s Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2011 when Dr. Louise E. Donohue retires. Dr. Troutman is currently serving as Assistant to the Superintendent for Educational Programs.
Dr. Troutman was a history teacher in New Jersey for 8 years prior to being hired by Parkland in 1995 as an Assistant Principal at Parkland High School. He served as Principal of Springhouse Middle School for 5 1/2 years before transferring to Orefield Middle School to become Principal in 2006 and then to his current position in 2009. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Kutztown University in Social Studies/Secondary Education in 1987 and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from East Stroudsburg University in 1995. Dr. Troutman received his doctoral degree in Educational Administration & Leadership in 2008 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Donohue remarked, “Rod’s service to Parkland has been outstanding. We congratulate him on this appointment where we know his strong administrative skills and collaborative style will continue to provide first-class leadership and support for Parkland School District.”
Dr. Troutman said, “I feel blessed to be able to continue my career in Parkland and serve this community. I look forward to helping lead the Parkland team as we experience fiscally challenging times knowing that we are fortunate to have a vibrant staff and resources that will continue to inspire excellence among the students, preparing them to succeed beyond their time in our k-12 schools. I will continue to do everything possible to adhere to that goal.”
