Samir (Sam) Ashmar Memorial Scholarship
Sam was a volunteer firefighter since 1982, presently serving as fire marshal and EMT for Upper Macungie Township Station 56, and previously served the Good Will Fire Company, No. 1 Trexlertown, and Lower Macungie Township Station 30. Sam was an assistant to the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and held memberships in the International, National and Pennsylvania Association of Arson Investigators. He also served on the board of directors for the Burn Prevention Foundation, Allentown, from 2000 to 2009. Sam passed away on Thursday November 20, 2014 after responding to an emergency call in his community. Scholarships will be awarded to a Parkland High School, Emmaus High School, and Northwestern Lehigh High School graduating seniors who will be continuing their education at an accredited college, university, or technical school. Scholarship eligibility is as follows:

Schnecksville Playground Association (SPA) This Scholarship honors the memory of Sandi Riley, an untiring volunteer in our youth sports programs, our community and our schools. Sandi, a former member of the Schnecksville Playground Association (SPA) Board of Directors, exemplified the terms volunteer and good sportsmanship. This year SPA will award three $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating seniors. Justin Sheftel Memorial Scholarship Award- In June 2005, a drunk driver tragically killed Justin Sheftel. This scholarship is being awarded to honor Justin, his life and to keep his memory alive. The ideal candidate would possess many of the characteristics and qualities that Justin exhibited in his life. Women’s Business Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a scholarship to recognize outstanding female high school seniors who have demonstrated academic ability and a commitment to learning, achievement, and community service. The recipient of the scholarship must: Be a student in good standing at her high school and must have maintained an overall 3.0 GPA. Good standing is defined as acceptable citizenship and attendance. Student will have demonstrated community service (for example school, faith-based or civic organizations, or employers). Student will be attending an accredited post-secondary educational program during the following academic year. Student will be an employee or the daughter of an employee of a business or organization that is a current member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. Children of the chamber staff, WBC Board, or the scholarship selection committee are ineligible. Complete ALL requested information on the application form.* You need not be accepted at a school before applying for the scholarship. Submit the application to your Guidance Counselor for their endorsement and they will forward the application the Women’s Business Council Scholarship Selection Committee.
