The FREDDY© Awards program is designed to recognize and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theatre in local high schools in 21 award categories. Parkland’s spring musical, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” garnered 15 nominations and won the following awards:
Student Achievement Award (The Express-Times Internship)
Nicholas Bonsell, Parkland High School stage crew/lighting designer and helped with set design
(also the winner of a Wilson Black Technical Scholarship)
Outstanding Production Number for the song “Great Big Stuff”
Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role
(and Mary V. Turnbach cash award)
Ben Mays for his portrayal of Freddy Benson
Special FREDDY: Most Valuable Player
Morgan Reilly won this award for being nominated eight times during her four years at Parkland – a Freddy record!
