On Tuesday, February 23, 2010, the Board of School Directors voted to approve the appointment of Mr. James Giaquinto as Principal of Parkland’s Cetronia Elementary School. Mr. Giaquinto, currently the District’s Elementary Curriculum Coordinator, will take over as Principal at Cetronia when the current principal, Mrs. Diana Schantz, assumes the principalship of Parkland’s new Fred J. Jaindl Elementary school which is slated to open in September 2010.
Mr. Giaquinto is ecstatic about joining the Cetronia team and will work tirelessly to ensure an effective and smooth transition in this leadership role. He spent ten years teaching in Parkland at both the primary and intermediate levels before moving into administration in his current role six years ago. He also pitched in as an Acting Elementary Principal at Parkland several years ago for a principal that had to take a sick leave. He received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University, his Master’s degree in Education from Kutztown University and his Principal Certification from Penn State University. He is currently working on an Educational Doctorate at Seton Hall University.
Dr. Louise Donohue, Superintendent of Schools remarked, “Mr. Giaquinto is a child-centered individual who cares deeply about the success of all students. He possesses the key combination of leadership experience, solid teaching experience, and interpersonal and communication skills that we were seeking in the next principal to lead Cetronia Elementary and we congratulate him on this appointment.”
