The Wall of Honor was established two years ago and is located inside the main entrance of Parkland High School. Wall plaques highlight the inductee achievements and include a current photo as well as the inductee’s Parkland senior picture. The people on the wall serve as an inspiration to all students to achieve excellence and remind our entire community of Parkland’s commitment to a quality educational program. Inductees will be honored at the Foundation’s 3rd Annual Gala & Silent Auction event on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center Lehigh Valley. The Wall of Honor is generously sponsored by Ironton Phone/Service Electric Phone Company.
In September, the Parkland community was invited to nominate inductees into the Alumni Wall of Honor. To be eligible, nominees must have demonstrated at least one of the following criteria:
- Outstanding accomplishments in his or her chosen field
- Dedicated commitment to his or her community
- A positive impact on people
- Recognition (locally or world-wide)
- Contribution to Humanity
- Acts of Service
A selection committee comprised of one member from the Parkland Education Foundation Board, the school district’s administration, a seasoned Parkland teacher, a Gala Committee volunteer and a member from the local business community reviewed the applications and scored them using a rubric. The six finalists were then approved by the Foundation Board of Directors.
