On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, the Parkland Board of School Directors appointed Karen B. Dopera Principal of Schnecksville Elementary School. She will replace Mr. William Bowen who is vacating the position to take a principal job closer to his home. Mr. Bowen’s last day will be Friday, October 4th and Mrs. Dopera will start on Monday, October 7th.
Mrs. Dopera holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Kutztown University, as well as a Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction and Principal’s Certificate from Lehigh University. Presently, Ms. Dopera is the Principal at Jefferson Elementary in the Allentown School District. Prior to this assignment, she was the Principal at Lehigh Parkway School, also in the Allentown School District. She also served for four years as the Assistant Principal at Ritter Elementary School in Allentown, PA and as an elementary teacher in Allentown for five years.
Superintendent of Schools Richard Sniscak stated, “Karen’s background, skills and overall personality will complement the Schnecksville community very well. She is extremely knowledgeable and possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills. She demonstrated a wealth of knowledge in using research-based educational strategies to meet every child’s needs. We wish her the best of luck in her new position and warmly welcome her to our administrative team.”
