The Parkland School District will implement a new elementary schedule beginning with the start of the 2010 – 2011 school year.
Under this new schedule, school will begin 10 minutes earlier. Therefore, the student school day will begin at 8:50 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m., as it does currently. Transportation for students will also operate 10 minutes earlier with students arriving at school between 8:35 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. Morning kindergarten will be held from 8:50 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. Afternoon kindergarten will remain the same from 12:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parents should consider the necessary child care arrangements under these new timeframes. Most important, the elementary schools will continue to operate 5 days a week. However special area subjects such as art, library, physical education, and vocal music will be offered on a 4 day cycle as opposed to the present 5 day cycle. This new elementary schedule will provide additional instructional time for students and allow teachers to extend and enhance our instructional programs.
Questions may be directed to each of our elementary school principals.
