“A Systematic Search for What Works”
Purpose:
To provide students experiencing difficulties in academic, physical, social or emotional areas with needed support so that they can become more successful in the classroom.
The I.S.T. Process is as follows :
- A student’s need for academic or behavioral support is identified and brought to the team.
- The team identifies a goal for the student and outlines strategies to assist the student in achieving the goal.
- The strategies are implemented through a continuum of services.
How I.S.T. Works :
- Classroom teacher, parent, or other professional requests assistance for the student.
- Team meets to determine problematic areas.
- Assessments are administered to further determine individual needs of the student.
- Team reconvenes to outline goals and determine an Action Plan to help the student be successful.
- Interventions are monitored for at least 30 school days.
- Team reconvenes to evaluate success of the action plan and determine further action, if any, to be taken.
