—”Who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” — John Cotton Dana
Professional development is critically important to the successful integration of any technology program. Based on needs assessment results, workshops are offered throughout the year as part of the Parkland Professional Development Academy to teachers and administrators. The 2012 Summer Academy provided more than 60 technology workshops on such topics as:
- Integrating interactive whiteboards into the classroom
- Developing a web site using a variety of tools such as Parkland Custom Word Press Templates, Google Sites, and Moodle
- Promoting communication and collaboration through Web 2.0 tools including wikis, blogs, podcasting, and Google Docs
- Helping struggling learners in all subject areas through assistive technologies
