Special Education Consultants

Our Autistic Support Consultant, Mrs. Diane Mucellin (mucellind@parklandsd.org), provides support for school personnel working with special education students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).  Best practices for teaching and including students with autism spectrum disorders within the special education and regular education classrooms are suggested and modeled when requested by the student’s special education team.  The Autistic Support Consultant provides resources and on the job training of scientifically proved strategies and interventions for school personnel (K-12).   Requests for autistic support consultative services require Student Services administrative approval.

 

Our Behavior Specialist, Mrs. Lisa Olivieri (olivieril@parklandsd.org), provides support for school personnel working with special education students with emotional and behavioral needs.  Best practices for teaching and including students with emotional and behavioral needs within the special education and regular education classrooms are suggested and modeled when requested by the student’s special education team.  The Behavior Specialist provides resources and on the job training of scientifically proved positive behavior support strategies and interventions for school personnel (K-12).   Requests for behavioral support consultative services require Student Services administrative approval.

 

Our Home and School Visitor, Mrs. Diane Joy Irish (irishd@parklandsd.org), is a licensed social worker who coordinates and monitors needed school and community services for identified special education students and their families when their individual needs are affecting the student’s successful adjustment in school.  The role of the Home and School Visitor is to connect families with services available to them in the community to address mental health needs, financial hardships, and opportunities for extra-curricular activities to enhance the child’s well-being.  The Home and School Visitor often serves as a link between the school and the family to facilitate communication and augment services that are being provided in the school setting so that the child can experience success at school, at home, and in the community.  Requests for Home and School Visitor consultative services require Student Services administrative approval.
