The names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 62nd Annual National Merit Scholarship Program were released today and 10 Parkland High School winners were announced. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring. The Semifinalists represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and have submitted a detailed application that shows demonstrated leadership abilities as well as an outstanding academic record and SAT test scores.
The students are Nadim Amin, Mandy Dang, Sunayana Jampanaboyana, Hyunbin Kim, Anna Li, Natalie Ondrey, Arvind Parthasarathy, Derrick Shi, Yogeshwar Velingker, and Joshua Yang. Congratulations!
Commended students also showed exceptional academic promise by earning one of the 50,000 highest scores out of 1.6 million students who took the qualifying exam. The 15 Parkland High School Commended students are Victoria Cervantes, Simon Chen, Hannah Daniels, Alana Dee, Sabrina Ghosh, Serena Johnson, Aneesh Kapoor, Young Seiok Kim, Jerry Law, Esther Lui, Sai Mallipedhi, Mia Mangosong, Ojas Patel, Shaumik Phadke, and Allison Wilcox.
