Field Hockey:
On Sunday, September 19th, approximately 32 players and coaches
and 16 parents and family members participated in the Angle
34 5K Walk. The Angel 34 Foundation was developed by
Nicole Sheriff, a field hockey player from Northampton High
School who was diagnosed with cancer. During Nicole’s
battle she faced many treatments that took its toll on her
body. She found that when she had an ICEE, she was
able to take her medications with fewer complications. She
made it her mission to place ICEE machines in chemotherapy
clinics across the United States.
The Parkland Field Hockey walking team raised over $1000 for
the Angel 34 Foundation. Additionally players made “Cheer
cards” for children in the area who are currently receiving
treatment for cancer.
On Sunday, November 16th, two seniors, Chelsey Talheim and
Karie Vassallo will represent Parkland Field Hockey in the
Angel 34 Classic. The games will involve players from
District XI who will join forces and play teams from New Jersey. The
games will be played at Emmaus High School.
Girls Volleyball:
The girls will be competing in the LVIAC Championships the
last week of October. The girls won the East/West Challenge
at State College and finished 5th in the Garden State Challenge
losing in the playoffs to #21 nationally ranked Mercy Academy. This
team qualified for districts earlier than any other team in
program history and was undefeated at home for the season in
Lehigh valley Conference play.
Football:
With three games to go the football team is in position to
qualify for District XI play. Ending their regular
season with Dieruff, Emmaus and Whitehall, the Trojans are
building momentum entering the tough District XI 4A Championships.
