Parkland Juniors named All-Americans by PrepVolleyball.com

Two of Parkland High School’s juniors, Taylor Krause and Kelly Robertson were named All-Americans by PrepVolleyball .com.  There are 36 juniors to receive this honor and a total of 150 athletes across all grades in the country.   Pennsylvania had a total of 4 receive this honor and we at Parkland are fortunate to have two members of our team recognized!  The coach of the Girls Vollyball team is Mike Krause.

Springhouse Middle School Awarded 2011 Arts Grant

 

 

In August 2011, Springhouse Middle School was awarded a $2,000 Arts Grant from Target to create murals.  Pictured is a mural of the Springhouse Middle School timber wolf mascot and the artist, Emanuil Gavrilesku.  The mural is located near the main office.

  • Nicholas Robasco, New Jersey Institute of Technology, partial athletic scholarship for baseball
  • Brittney Schlechter, Kutztown University, partial athletic scholarship for field hockey
  • Andrew Seip, Mars Hill College, partial athletic scholarship for lacrosse
  • Lauren Siebert, Canisius College, full athletic scholarship for volleyball

Amazon Challenge Grant

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vickie Mortimer, General Manager of Amazon, presented Fogelsville Elementary with a $2,500 check that can be used for educational materials on February 3. As a challenge, Ms. Mortimer announced at the event that if the students read 189,000 minutes during the PTO-sponsored read-a-thon over the next 28 days, the school will receive an additional $2,500 from Amazon!

PHS English Teacher Becomes a National Writing Project Fellow

Rachel Livesey, a PHS English teacher, became a National Writing Project Fellow.  She was inspired after her fellow colleague, Lori Peters, became a National Writing Project Fellow in January 2011.  The National Writing Project Fellow has had a great impact on how she teaches writing and she feels her students’ work has reflected significant growth.  For more information visit:http://www2.lv.psu.edu/ce/lvwp
