Boy’s soccer went through an undefeated season, winning the LVIAC championship and going through double overtime and penalty kicks before succumbing eventual District Champ - Stroudsburg. Athletics Newsletter for October 19, 2009
As of the writing of this newsletter document, the Parkland High School boy’s soccer team is undefeated, ranked # 1 in the state and #19 nationally. This is the first time any Parkland soccer program has had these types of honors. Girl’s volleyball just came off a huge win against defending PA State Champ, Allentown Central Catholic and is currently ranked # 4 in the state. The golf team finished out an undefeated season with LVIAC League and District XI Championships. Field hockey is working toward a league title with only one loss going into the final league game of the 2009 season. Girl’s tennis won the LVIAC Championship and is involved in the District XI playoffs. Football and cross country are currently in the midst of their seasons and looking to make an impact in the upcoming play-off picture.
Individual honors are limited at this time since the All-League, All-State and All-American selections have not yet been made. Our lone current honoree is Jordan Keller who won the District XI Individual Golf Championship at the Bethlehem Municipal golf Course in early October.
Winter sports begin Friday November 20th with first contests date set for December 11th. All prospective winter sports athletes must have a completed physical form turned-in to the Athletic Office prior to the November 20th start date. After, November 7th, the free physical date, all costs and scheduling of physicals is the responsibility of the individual student.
We are looking forward to an exciting winter season and a fall season that extends well into winter with numerous championship opportunities.
